Harry Gray remains on the fringes at Leeds United as Daniel Farke opts for a measured introduction amid intense external attention. According to Leeds Live, the head coach wants to shield the 17-year-old from family-name pressure while the club battle Premier League relegation.
Gray made his senior debut in the Championship last season, his only senior outing so far. This term he is training regularly with the first team to build strength, playing for the Under-21s and has featured in a few matchday squads, but he has yet to make a full debut.
Progress was checked by a hip injury that sidelined him from team training for several weeks. He has returned to the grass and rejoined sessions as he works back towards full fitness.
Upon turning 17 he signed his first professional contract at Elland Road. The long-term agreement, with the length undisclosed, is designed to secure his future and discourage opportunistic bids.
Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the striker. City are claimed to be considering a winter move and view him as a long-term attacking option, while Kalvin Phillips has been touted as a possible makeweight.
While Farke would prefer to keep him close, a January loan to the Championship or League One has been floated. Derby County and Hull City are among the clubs monitoring whether a temporary move is sanctioned.
The club are also managing the spotlight created by Archie Gray’s high-profile switch to Tottenham and the wider Gray family legacy. The aim is to avoid burdening Harry with expectations before he is ready for senior football.
