Harry Kane became England's leading World Cup scorer with 11 after netting against Panama on Saturday, surpassing Gary Lineker's 10. His professionalism has long resonated with Grêmio forward Carlos Vinicius from their season together at Tottenham.
The pair were team-mates between October 2020 and May 2021.
"What takes you off focus is letting the moment carry you. In football you have to prove yourself every two days. I celebrate, I give it 24 hours, then I have to leave it behind. I took that from Harry Kane at Tottenham," he told ge in February.
On loan from Benfica, Vinicius played 22 times and scored 10, while Kane led the club with 33. José Mourinho was head coach, with Lucas Moura and Gareth Bale in the squad. Spurs exited the Europa League and FA Cup early, finished seventh and were League Cup runners-up.
Now Grêmio's top scorer, Vinicius hit two in a friendly on Saturday. "He would score a hat-trick and the next morning nothing had changed, he just carried on with his training. He is one of the most complete players I have seen. He does not talk much and keeps to himself," he told Abre Aspas in May.
