Another Real Madrid player who saw his chances of winning the World Cup 2026 come to an end in the semi-final stage was the midfielder Jude Bellingham. A day before his England side was defeated by Argentina, three other Merengue players, Kylian Mbappe, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Ibrahim Konate also saw their World Cup dreams end, as they were defeated by Marc Cucurella and his Spain team.
England were leading on the scoreboard by a goal till the 85th minute, but two goals in seven minutes by the South Americans ended up evaporating their World Cup hopes. While the entire English team would be dejected by this loss, a star like Bellingham, who remained one of the leading stars for his team in the tournament, must be particularly affected.
Another star who was visibly affected by this loss was the striker Harry Kane, who was another leader of the English team. This might have been the last World Cup for the Bayern Munich forward, and having missing out on the top international prize, the next best thing for him will be winning the UEFA Champions League.
While Bayern themselves have been a strong contender in the UCL, every player with an ambition to lift that title is naturally linked to Real Madrid, the team that has won this title the most in its history. This is no different in Kane’s case, as he has been linked with the Merengue club for the last several years.
However, the journalist Christian Falk in his latest CF Bayern Insider column makes it clear that the Englishman understands that staying at Bayern Munich will be his best chance of winning the UCL.
The Bavarians have a well-developed project headed by a highly competent manager Vincent Kompany, while Los Blancos are set to embark on a new journey under Jose Mourinho, and it is highly uncertain how the project will unfold in the months to come.
Thus, although Real Madrid remains the most successful club in the competition’s history, Harry Kane understands that his best chance to winning UCL is staying at Bayern Munich, and this is the course he is set to take going forward.
