Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has praised Mohamed Salah in glowing terms effectively drawing line under recent speculation about tensions between the pair following the Egyptian star’s omission from the starting XI.

Salah made decisive impact after coming off the bench in Liverpool’s 2-0 Premier League victory over Brighton at Anfield in matchday 16 providing assist from corner kick for Hugo Ekitike’s goal shortly after entering the game.

Slot highlighted Salah’s sharpness after the final whistle:

“I think he was real threat. His first touch almost created assist for Mac Allister and I believe he even had chance to shoot. He was involved in every attacking move and it was great to see though not surprising because he has done this many times for Liverpool.”

Asked about Salah’s return to the squad and whether any apology had been exchanged, Slot played down the drama:

“It was very easy decision. I’ve said many times that what was said between me and him will stay between us. We needed him which is why he was my first substitution and he delivered by creating the second goal from corner.”

Slot admits Liverpool will miss Salah during AFCON

Slot acknowledged the challenge of coping without his star forward:

“We will miss another important player. We’ve known this since the start of the season. Hopefully one or two player will return from injury though I realistically expect only one. Our next match away at Tottenham will be huge challenge.”

The forward has now left the club to join Egypt’s national team camp ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, set to take place in Morocco between December & January.
