Carlo Ancelotti head coach of Brazil has stepped in to quash concerns over Vinicius Junior after the Real Madrid winger’s widely-reported frustration at being substituted during the El Clasico.

The incident occurred during Madrid’s 2-1 win over Barcelona and took place under manager Xabi Alonso.

Speaking ahead of Brazil’s upcoming friendlies versus Senegal (15 Nov) and Tunisia (18 Nov), Ancelotti said:

"We've very good relationship with Vinicius. I told him what I thought — yes, he made mistake, he understood and he apologised. I believe the issue is resolved. He's very important player for us"..

The Brazilian squad announcement came on Monday with Vinicius included despite the club-level incident. Ancelotti added:

"He doesn’t have problem here, nor at his club or with his coach. As for his personal life — that’s his business. I’m not his father or brother, I’m just his coach"

Alonso signals closure

In his own remarks to AS newspaper, Xabi Alonso confirmed he and Vinicius held discussion the previous Friday:

"For me, it was important we spoke on Friday — the matter is settled. These things happen and we don’t want them repeated".
