‘He loves the club’: Borussia Dortmund chief reacts to Haaland, Klopp links to Real Madrid | OneFootball

Over the past few weeks, Real Madrid have been linked with a plethora of transfer targets, especially with two presidential candidates presenting two different projects concurrently.

While Florentino Perez has gone about his business relatively regularly with normal signings like Ibrahima Konate and Denzel Dumfries, his competitor Enrique Riquelme has gone all out with a star-studded lineup.

The new candidate has named Jurgen Klopp, Rodri and Erling Haaland and guaranteed signings if he is voted to power, but it has not helped his cause that all three entourages have openly come out to reject the news.

Dortmund president makes revelation on Klopp

Borussia Dortmund president Hans-Joachim Watzke spoke to AS in a recent interview where he was asked if there was any possibility of Jurgen Klopp joining Real Madrid in the summer.

“He’s a great coach. He has always shown that. But right now he has absolutely no intention of coaching any team,” the president said.

“He’s not going to sign for anyone. He is convinced of that. He knows what he has to do, and it does not involve coaching any team at this moment,” he added, making it clear that Klopp will not return to coaching immediately.

He then clarified that he is very close to the manager, adding further weight to his statements and their legitimacy.

“We talk a lot. I’d say there’s always something going on, but there was no need to discuss this because I know what he thinks.”

“Besides, yesterday his representative spoke on Sky and made it clear,” he added.

His thoughts on Haaland to Real Madrid

The Dortmund president also happens to know Erling Haaland, who is also a target of Riquelme, quite well and spoke on the Norwegian star’s potential move to Spain.

“I know very well what he thinks and I can say that, of course, he admires Real Madrid and that in the future he would like to play for the club. But next season he will continue playing for Manchester City. Without any doubt.”

Elaborating on the same, he admitted that it was indeed a possibility for Haaland to play for Real Madrid in the future.

“He loves Real Madrid and doesn’t hide it. I think he will play there in two or three years, but not any sooner. He has not committed himself to anyone, just as his father has said.”

Finally, the Dortmund president spoke out in support of Florentino Perez and praised how the Real Madrid president always maintained cordial relations with his club.

“I’ve had a great relationship with Real Madrid for 12 years and they have always respected Borussia Dortmund at all times, and that is something to be grateful for. What Florentino has done during this period is incredible.”
