Coventry City's 3-2 win over Oxford United handed Frank Lampard's side another valuable three points in the race for the play-offs, and it also marked the return from injury for Haji Wright.

The American international was last seen in a 2-2 draw with Sunderland on 9 November prior to the Sky Blues' victory at the Kassam Stadium.

He's been recovering from an ankle problem, but he was fit enough to return to the matchday squad on Saturday, and was handed his first minutes back on the pitch when he replaced Ellis Simms after 74 minutes.

"Our best striker" - Haji Wright could have big Coventry City impact in closing stages of the season

We asked our Coventry City fan pundit, Chris Deez: 'So the Haji Wright situation is a bit of a weird one.

"Obviously, he's our best striker. He's our best attacker. We absolutely love him, we've missed him, but it feels a little bit unfair to just put him straight into the starting XI, when Brandon Thomas-Asante and Simms have done so well together.

"But on the other hand, it's really telling and a little bit worrying that Wright is still our top scorer after being out injured for four months, and he's only on seven goals.

"Simms is on six, so in all that time, as good as Asante and Simms have been, and Norman Bassette was good for a little while, nobody has really properly stepped up.

"I don't envy Lampard" - Coventry City boss predicted to have major team selection headache now Wright is back

Now that Wright is back available to Lampard, is it a case of the versatile forward walking straight into Coventry's team? Deez doesn't think so.

Chris continued: "So, Lampard has got a bit of a dilemma there I think. I think what's more than likely going to happen is that we probably just go back to having a loan striker, which will probably be Simms and then have Wright out on the left.

"Or, maybe have Wright up front with Mason-Clark on the left. I don't know, there's a lot for Lampard to think about here. He might not even like Haji. He's never used him, he's never had the opportunity to use him.

"He might not really fit into his plans. He's got his preferred strike partnership now, he's got the team set out exactly how he wants them. We're in great form at the minute, and we've done all of that without arguably our best player.

"So, it's definitely a bit of a tricky one. I would probably bring him back on the bench for the next couple of games and see how we get on. We've got a pretty favourable run coming up, with the likes of Derby and Stoke.

"See how we get through those few games. If we get at least six out of nine points without using Haji, then yeah maybe see if there is a way for him to fit in with the two strikers up-front.

"I don't know, it's a really hard one. I don't envy Lampard at all on this one."
