Milan midfielder Adrien Rabiot (30) has spoken his mind regarding the Serie A’s decision to host a league game between Como and the Rossoneri in Perth, Australia. The game will be held on February 8. The France international told Le Figaro that both teams’ forced trip Down Under was “totally crazy.” “There are economic agreements to give the league some visibility. All of this is beyond us.”

Rabiot said that hosting a Serie A game in Australia is also crazy because the topics of players’ welfare and fixture scheduling are now much-discussed in world football. “It’s nuts to travel so many kilometers to play a game between two Italian teams in Australia. We have to adapt. As always.

Following Rabiot’s interview, Luigi De Siervo has responded to the France international in patronizing terms. “He’s right, we are the ones who decide for him“, the Serie A CEO said to Italian reporters. “He forgets that he is paid millions of euros to do a job: play football. He should respect the money he earns.” De Siervo adds that Rabiot should accept his employer’s wishes, considering that Milan reportedly lobbied for the Serie A game against Como to be played abroad.
