Leeds United completed their winter transfer window without any extra additions to their team, with Daniel Farke going with what he already had for the remainder of the season.

While it seemed like they might force a deal across the line for Cameron Archer on deadline day, Southampton had none of it and opted to reject any loan advances from the Whites.

This concluded a quiet month, with the only notable deals seeing young forward Sonny Perkins depart permanently for Leyton Orient and Joe Gelhardt join up with Hull City on loan.

Nevertheless, Daniel Farke's side are still well-placed in the league and currently lead the Championship from Burnley and Sheffield United.

Though they looked for another attacker, their impressive goal-scoring form has made it a moot point, as they comfortably top the Championship for goals scored. This form is something the Whites will look to continue and right now, you would have to place them in pole position for a return to the Premier League.

Despite their strong performance in the league, fans often feel more at ease with additional signings during the transfer window, and Leeds supporters are no exception.

As a result, Football League World spoke to their resident Whites pundit, Joe Blackburn, who shared that he would have liked to see an improvement on Brenden Aaronson arrive at Elland Road - although there was an understanding of the situation as to why Leeds did not make their move in the end.

"Signing a number ten," Joe responded when FLW asked what his transfer wish for the mid-season window was that didn't end up transpiring.

"I do agree with the club's mentality of making sure that, if you are signing someone, they're of a good enough standard to break into the first team.

"For example, last January, we signed Connor Roberts to play as a right-back, but he wasn't better than Archie Gray - that meant we effectively wasted the money we spent on Connor Roberts.

"He scored once and played a few times, but he wasn't a significant enough part of the side to properly break into it.

"If we were to have signed a number ten, it had to be someone with the right skills and a specific profile. They had to be a creative, passing sort of player, and they had to actually challenge Brenden Aaronson for that place in the first 11. If not, it would have been a pointless move.

"So, whilst I wish we had got someone in, I understand the factors that meant we didn't."

Leeds United must stick by Brenden Aaronson who has shown glimpses of quality this season

Aaronson has by no means had a bad campaign, and in front of goal, he has been particularly useful, finding the back of the net eight times in 30 matches. But, you feel that they could have made an advancement on his ability.

January is always a difficult time to go shopping and for much of the month. Leeds were targeting Aston Villa's Emi Buendia for that attacking midfielder position. Unfortunately, they were beaten to his signature as Bayer Leverkusen secured the Argentine on loan for the remainder of the season.

Ultimately, this was the level of player they were going to have to bring in, and now they haven't managed that they can focus on getting the most out of the American.

So far, he has proven himself more than capable in the second tier, and it is difficult to doubt the influence he has had on helping Leeds become the best attacking outfit in the decision.
