The captain of the Senegal national team, Sadio Mané (33), has lifted the lid on the conversation he had with his Al-Nassr teammate, Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, following the Lions of Teranga's victory at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Senegal claimed the 35th edition of AFCON by defeating Morocco (1-0) in a gripping final last Sunday at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
On an individual level, Sadio Mané was crowned the Best Player of AFCON 2025, a fitting reward for his outstanding performances throughout the tournament. The Senegalese striker also confirmed that this edition marks the end of his continental journey with the national team.
In a statement shared by the trusted pages "Le Meilleur du Football" and "Football Tweet", Mané revealed:
"Cristiano Ronaldo called me to congratulate me on the AFCON trophy. He said he watched the whole final..."
Thanks to this triumph, Senegal will receive a record $10 million bonus from the Confederation of African Football (CAF)—the highest amount in the tournament's history.
Meanwhile, Senegalese president Bassirou Diomaye Faye has also promised financial rewards to the Lions of Teranga, in recognition of their second continental crown.
