Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign Aaron Anselmino on a season loan according to Fabrizio Romano.
Anselmino joined Chelsea last summer in a deal worth around £15m from Argentine side Boca Juniors, and was loaned back for the season.
Chelsea took the decision to recall Anselmino in January, and he spent the second half of last season training with the Blues and adapting.
Anselmino made his Chelsea debut at the Club World Cup this summer, but he only played two minutes in the tournament.
It had been reported Chelsea weren’t 100% sure what their plan was for Anselmino, given Levi Colwill will miss the majority of the season with an ACL injury.
Anselmino made his Chelsea debut at the Club World Cup.
However, a decision has been taken, and Romano has confirmed Anselmino will join Bundesliga outfit Dortmund on a season loan.
He took to X.com and said:
“Aaron Anselmino to Borussia Dortmund from Chelsea, here we go!
“Deal agreed on loan, no buy option clause as Aaron will be back at Chelsea in June 2026. BVB will cover his salary…”
Anselmino had attracted loan interest from Real Betis, but a move to Dortmund will give him the opportunity to play Champions League football.
Dortmund also have a reputation for developing young players and giving them opportunities, so it will be interesting to see how Anselmino develops this season.
Whilst Chelsea are making good progress in regards to player sales and loans, they face a very busy end to the transfer window.
Chelsea still have a number of players they are looking to sell as we head into the final week of the transfer window.
