Alisson Becker could be leaving Liverpool this summer.

The 33-year-old recently had a one-year extension in his contract triggered by Richard Hughes. It means the goalkeeping legend is tied to the Anfield club until 2027.

However there is strong interest from Juventus - with Alisson also thought to be keen on a move back to Serie A.

Rather than losing the two-time title winner for free next summer the Premier League champions could bank a decent fee on the high-earning shotstopper this year instead.

And with Alisson unreliable from a fitness standpoint it would be no surprise to see Hughes and first-team coach Arne Slot move on from the Brazil No1.

With Giorgi Mamardashvili so far unconvincing in his auditions to take over from Alisson there remains the possibility that the Merseysiders move for another goalkeeper in the upcoming window.

And according to a report in TEAMtalk Emiliano Martinez is emerging as a serious option in the eyes of Liverpool recruiters.

“The Argentina international is highly admired within Anfield recruitment circles and would be viewed as a serious option if Alisson departs,” the report reads.

“Martinez is viewed as one of the standout options available on the market.”

The Argentine has been Aston Villa’s first choice since 2020 - playing over 250 times for Unai Emery’s side. Martinez has also won two Copas America with Argentina as well as the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Long renowned as one of the world’s best Martinez could be let go by Villa this summer as the UEFA Europa League finalists attempt to balance the books.

“The 33-year-old’s leadership, mentality and experience at the highest level are all qualities Liverpool appreciate, particularly given his performances for both Aston Villa and Argentina in recent years,” the report reads.

“Martinez’s reputation as a commanding personality and elite shot-stopper is also considered attractive by those involved in Liverpool’s recruitment process.”
