Barcelona could be presented with an interesting opportunity in the coming months as the club continues to monitor young talents across Europe.

The Catalan giants have focused heavily on youth recruitment in recent years, and a new name from Paris is now on their radar.

According to a recent report from SPORT, it has come to light that Emmanuel Mbemba, a PSG youth player and 17-year-old left back, has offered himself to Barcelona

Notably, his contract expires at the end of this season and he could become a free agent.

The situation has caught attention because of the recent movement between the two clubs.

During the January transfer window, Barcelona lost one of their own promising youngsters, Pedro ‘Dro’ Fernandez, to PSG after the player handed in a transfer request.

Now, the French side could be facing a similar scenario with one of their own academy prospects.

Who is Emmanuel Mbemba?

The outlet mentions that Mbemba is one of the players being closely monitored by Barcelona

The defender’s contract talks with PSG have stalled, and there has been no breakthrough in negotiations for several weeks.

This has opened the door for other clubs to explore the possibility of signing him, especially if he becomes available on a free transfer.

Primarily a left-back, Mbemba has also been used as a centre-back on occasions, a trait which is appealing for Barcelona

He is known for his pace, forward runs, and comfort on the ball, traits that made him one of PSG’s more exciting prospects not too long ago.

However, his progress has slowed down under Luis Enrique, which has played a role in the current uncertainty around his future.

What now?

With renewal talks dragging on, his agent is said to be waiting to see what options appear in the market.

The idea is to evaluate whether a move away from PSG could offer better sporting or financial prospects.

As such, it is not only Barcelona who have shown interest, as clubs like Bayern Munich have also been linked with the young defender.

Meanwhile, PSG have already offered Mbemba a renewal, and negotiations are still ongoing.

The French club remain confident that an agreement will eventually be reached.

However, until a final deal is signed, the player’s camp is keeping all options open, including the possibility of a move to Barcelona or another major European club.
