Higor de Souza leaves Benfica to join Barcelona at 27 | OneFootball

According to Glorioso 1904, Higor de Souza has joined Barcelona for 2026/27, the Brazilian pivot leaving Benfica to sign a deal until 30 June 2028, becoming Javi Rodríguez's first addition for the new season.

Born in São Paulo and close to turning 28, he returns to Spanish futsal after an earlier spell. He called the move a dream realised and said he will work hard to try to enjoy big moments with the blaugrana.

Setting his sights high, he said he wants to win every trophy possible with Barça and that wearing the shirt is a great honour.

Higor departs Benfica after four seasons marked by silverware. Despite an injury-hit first year, he totalled 119 appearances and 57 goals, and was a key figure in the 2025/26 domestic treble of league, Taça de Portugal and Taça da Liga. That followed the 2024/25 league title and the 2023 Supertaça.

Before Benfica he featured in Spain with Palma, arriving in January 2020 from Corinthians. He quickly became an important piece despite only a season and a half, a run that paved the way to Benfica and now Barcelona.
