Sebastian Hoeneß says Julian Nagelsmann would struggle to leave Deniz Undav out of Germany’s World Cup squad this summer if the striker sustains his current form.

Undav struck and assisted in Stuttgart’s 3-0 DFB-Pokal quarter-final win over Holstein Kiel on Wednesday. According to BuLi News, Hoeneß made the point after the cup tie.

The forward now has 15 goals and nine assists in 27 appearances in all competitions for the Swabians.

Hoeneß stressed that Undav not only scores but also creates, calling him pivotal and central to Stuttgart. He added that, if this level continues, he cannot be left out and must be included.

Undav, who last played for Germany in June 2025, made clear he wants to be at the tournament in the United States, Mexico and Canada. He said that is his goal, and that selection depends on performances, which he believes he is providing right now.
