Every single one of Barcelona’s planned departures and contract renewals this summer has been directed towards the sole goal of improving the club’s financial situation on the FFP front.

For years now, the club has toiled under financial struggles, especially in terms of the Financial Fair Play, and their difficulty in returning to the 1:1 rule in La Liga is greatly influenced by the same.

As relayed by Mundo Deportivo in a recent report, however, the Catalans have made significant progress on that front in recent weeks and have cleared up a net of €36 million via various operations.

The break-up

Considering that Barcelona are still not on the 1:1 rule, the amortisation of any player’s salary helps the club release 60% of the full sum. When there is a case of sale or a transfer percentage from an ex-player, the Blaugrana team can use 20% of the total amount.

As confirmed by the Spanish outlet, every one of Barcelona’s exit operations this summer has played its part in lightening their FFP bill, and Jules Kounde’s recent contract renewal was also directed with the same objective in mind.

The Frenchman’s new contract unburdens Barcelona of roughly €4 million as he signed until 2030 from the previous deal expiring in 2027.

Selling their half of Francisco Trincao’s rights for €11 million brought in another €2.2 million, while the sales of Pau Victor and Pablo Torre yielded €2.8 million and €3.5 million respectively.

The two biggest transactions in terms of helping with the FFP situation were the departures of Inigo Martinez and Ansu Fati, as the two operations cleared up €8.4 million and €8 million respectively.

All in all, the club have managed to free up nearly €36 million in terms of salary space this summer and are now looking to up that by an additional €10 million through a strategic sponsorship.

Indeed, it is the deal with the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo that is expected to add the anticipated buffer.

The deal is being discussed as a sponsorship worth €40 million for four years working out to €10 million annually. Such a move would improve Barcelona’s FFP by a net of €46 million and bring them ever so close to the 1:1 rule.
