FC Bayern kick off the Rückrunde on Saturday with an away game at RB Leipzig. Despite having 47 points and a goal difference of 66:13 – the best-ever first half of a Bundesliga season – and a comfortable 11-point lead over second place, the start of the second half of the season is kind of a new beginning for Vincent Kompany: "We're starting from scratch again," stressed the record champions' head coach. This applies to the title race as well as the hunt for more records, as our look at the facts ahead of the blockbuster in Saxony shows.

Second-best run in the club's history possible

FC Bayern are the only team in the big five European leagues who are still undefeated this term. Stretching back to last season, the Munich men have now gone 26 Bundesliga games without defeat (22 wins, four draws) since losing 3-2 at home to Bochum last March. If FCB don't lose at Leipzig, it'll mark the second-best run in the club's history: from 1988 to 1989, they went 27 Bundesliga games without defeat – the only longer run in this competition was from 2012 to 2014 (53).

Tah on the verge of an away record

Bayern haven't lost on the road in this competition since December 2024, with the 2-1 defeat in Mainz back then now a full 17 Bundesliga away games, or an entire ‘Hinrunde’, ago. That's an impressive statistic, but one that Jonathan Tah can only manage a weary smile at. The record champions' summer signing is undefeated in his last 38 away games in the league – six with Bayern, 32 with his previous club Bayer 04 Leverkusen. His last personal Bundesliga defeat on the road came in May 2023 with the Werkself in Bochum (3-0). In the recent 3-1 win at Köln, the centre-back equalled the record set by his former teammate Robert Andrich and could now set a new one on his own.

Bayern's run against Leipzig

Bayern are unbeaten in their last five competitive matches against the Red Bulls and have recorded three home wins and two hard-fought draws in Leipzig. Nevertheless, the Munich men have lost just one of nine league games at RB (a 2-1 in March 2018) – with three wins and five draws, they're the only Bundesliga side against whom the Saxons can't boast a positive home record.

Success guaranteed with Neuer

Bayern have never lost to RB Leipzig with captain Manuel Neuer between the posts  – across all competitions, whnever the keeper's played, Bayern have recorded eight wins and three draws. Without him, however, there have been just three wins in 11 competitive matches (five draws, three defeats).

A tough task for Bayern's record-breaking attack

Bayern's current tally of 66 goals after 17 games is, of course, a Bundesliga record, as is their current run of 25 games in this competition in which they've scored at least twice. However, the record champions' attack now faces a difficult task. Leipzig (eight times, along with Bayern) have kept the most clean sheets this season after Dortmund (nine times) and are also the only side in the current campaign who have yet to concede a goal from distance, a set piece or in the opening quarter of an hour.
