Curtis Davies has revealed his delight after former teammate Craig Forsyth signed a new contract at Derby County.

Curtis Davies revealed his delight as Derby County confirmed that Craig Forsyth had signed a new contract that will take him into 14 seasons at the club.

The Scotsman joined the Rams on an initial loan deal in March 2013, with his move turned permanent a few months later.

Since then, Forsyth has gone on to make over 350 appearances for Derby, but with his contract expiring this summer, there had been doubts about his future.

However, the 36-year-old has extended his deal at Pride Park, with his new two-year contract running until the end of the 2026/27 season.

The club announced the news on social media, and they also confirmed that they will help Forsyth as he looks to get his badges before he potentially moves into a coaching role when he retires from playing.

In the meantime, Forsyth will be concentrating on helping Derby under John Eustace, with the left-footer having played regularly under the new boss since his appointment midway through the previous campaign.

Taking on Instagram, Davies, who spent six years alongside Forsyth in Derby’s defence, simply put ‘Yesssss!!!’ along with a black and white love heart.

As outlined above, Forsyth still has a lot to offer on the pitch. He played 39 times in the Championship last season, and he is clearly a player that Eustace trusts.

It also makes sense that the club are looking to keep him on in some capacity moving forward, as he will have a lot to offer as a coach, if that’s the road he wants to go down, which seems likely following this update.

He has a real connection with Derby, and they are right to lean on someone who knows so much about the club and clearly loves them.

So, that next step will be interesting, but in the here and now, Forsyth will be concentrating on the 2025/26 season, as Derby look to build on the good progress they’ve made under Eustace.
