The Cherries are poised to sell their star man, with Man City seemingly ready to trigger the release clause in the contract of the Ghana international.

That would be a big blow for Bournemouth, and the recruitment team at the Vitality Stadium will be working on a list of replacements for Semenyo as they look to climb the table to avoid getting sucked into the relegation battle.

Ipswich will not entertain offers for Jaden Philogene in the January window

It had been claimed that the Premier League side were ‘seriously considering’ making a move for Philogene, with the winger having enjoyed a brilliant individual campaign in the Championship.

However, TEAMtalk has revealed that Ipswich have ‘no intention’ of sanctioning the sale of their key man this month.

Therefore, they add that Bournemouth have already moved on to other options, as they know it won’t be possible to prise Philogene from Portman Road, where he is under contract until the summer of 2029.

The 23-year-old scored his ninth goal of the season in Ipswich’s win over Oxford United on New Year’s Day, a result which moved the Tractor Boys into the second automatic promotion spot and made it seven points from three games over the festive period.

Ipswich Town are right to take a firm Jaden Philogene stance

This is a sensible approach from Ipswich, as Philogene is crucial to their promotion hopes under Kieran McKenna this season, and losing him would be a massive blow.

We know the financial rewards that come with winning promotion to the Premier League, so it would take a truly ludicrous offer for Bournemouth to tempt the Suffolk side at this stage of the campaign, which clearly isn’t going to happen.

Of course, the dynamic would change if the player pushed to leave, but Philogene appears very happy at Ipswich, and he offered another reminder of his talent with his well-taken goal against Oxford.

It seems as though Ipswich are really starting to click now after an inconsistent start, and the aim for all connected to the club will be to reach the Premier League next season.

If they fail to go up, then it would be a huge shock if Philogene stuck around for another year in the Championship, but there will be a belief at Portman Road that they will be playing in the top-flight, which is where the former Aston Villa man belongs going by his performances this season.
