John Eustace has been linked with a move to Coventry City if Frank Lampard departs
Derby County are in the mix for a play-off place in the Championship under John Eustace.
The 46-year-old took charge at Pride Park in February 2025, and has overseen a rise from a relegation scrap last season to contention for a top six finish.
The Rams came 19th in the Championship in their first year back in the division last season, surviving the drop down to League One by just a point on the final day
Derby will go into this weekend just three points adrift of the play-offs with just five games to go, as the club looks to earn their place in the Premier League for the first time since 2008.
However, Eustace’s future has become the subject of speculation ahead of their clash with Southampton, who currently occupy the final top-six spot and are in a rich vein of form across recent months.
It has been reported that Coventry City have shortlisted the Derby boss as a potential option in the event that Frank Lampard departs in the summer, with recent reports having linked the ex-Rams figure with a third return to Chelsea.

According to Football Insider, Eustace would jump at the opportunity to manage in the Premier League next season if Coventry came calling.
The former midfielder spent seven years of his senior career with the Sky Blues, coming through their academy system to become a member of the first team squad in 1996.
It’s believed that he would be open to a move to the CBS Arena if the option became available, with his old connection to the club cited as a pull factor.
It’s also understood that Eustace is keen to work at the highest level, and Coventry are on the cusp of earning their place back in the Premier League.
The 46-year-old was at Coventry when they last competed in the top flight in 2001, and he made 32 appearances as the team suffered relegation to the second tier.
A victory against sixth place Southampton this weekend will put the teams level on points, although the Saints will still have an extra fixture in hand.
Lampard has a contract with Coventry until June 2027, but his success at the CBS Arena has led to speculation of a move this summer.
The Sky Blues are increasingly concerned that Chelsea could make an approach for the 47-year-old, who spent 13 years at Stamford Bridge as a player, and who has already had two stints in the dugout since beginning his managerial career.

Eustace has done an excellent job at Derby over the last 12 months or so, and it would be a real blow if he departed in the summer.
The opportunity to manage in the Premier League is a very tempting one, and it’s hard for managers to turn down — as we saw earlier this season with Rob Edwards moving to Wolves from Middlesbrough.
It remains to be seen yet whether Lampard will leave Coventry, and it would be a reckless decision from Chelsea to bring him back for a third stint.
But it will make Derby supporters nervous that Eustace’s future is suddenly being questioned given the progress the team has made under his management.
