John McEvoy has been linked with a takeover at Sheffield Wednesday
Sheffield Wednesday are searching for a new owner after going into administration under Dejphon Chansiri.
The Thai businessman oversaw a number of financial issues at Hillsborough, including the failure to pay members of the first team squad, as well as non-playing staff, on time on multiple occasions this year.
Begbies Traynor have been appointed as administrators for the Championship side, with a new owner being sought.
One prospective buyer that emerged is American billionaire John McEvoy, who the Telegraph have reported is interested in a takeover.
Here we look at how McEvoy made his money amid these links to a possible purchase of Sheffield Wednesday.

McEvoy taking over Sheffield Wednesday wouldn’t be his first foray into investing in sports, having earned experience through baseball and ice hockey.
According to The Yorkshire Post, he is a minority investor in both the Nashville Predators and the Colorado Rockies, who compete in the NHL and MLB respectively.
The potential Owls investor also has a background in music, keeping a wide portfolio as part of his fortune.
McEvoy reportedly invested a minority stake in a talent agency known as Various Artists Management, which has links to some Sheffield musicians, including Sheffield Wednesday fan Jon McClure, who is the lead singer of Reverend and the Makers.
The American has been able to amass this level of wealth after he started a mobile device distribution company, The Mobile Situation, which was founded in San Diego.
This was a massively successful venture for McEvoy, who made his fortune with The Mobile Situation, which has helped fund these other lavish investments.
He has a number of other smaller scale investments, such as bars and restaurants, and there is no doubt that he has the net worth to bring some much-needed stability to Hillsborough.

It is far from a foregone conclusion that McEvoy will be the next owner of Sheffield Wednesday, with no decision yet made on any takeover.
Begbies Traynor will be seeking the best deal possible for Sheffield Wednesday’s creditors so that they are satisfied, which the American could be able to provide given his fortune.
But a number of other names have been linked with a takeover at Hillsborough in recent months, including Mike Ashley and John Textor.
It has been reported that the former Newcastle United owner is weighing up his options, with the Owls now in administration.
Meanwhile, it’s been claimed that Textor has also made contact with the administrators over a possible takeover.
It could take a number of weeks for the details of any deal to be ironed out and finalised, meaning supporters will need to be patient.
It is also likely to take another few weeks following the finalisation of a deal for the EFL to ratify a change in ownership, but there is still light at the end of the tunnel for the Yorkshire outfit.
Sheffield Wednesday were handed a 12-point deduction for going into administration, with relegation to League One now all but certain following their difficult start to the Championship season.
