How much Barcelona would need to pay to sign João Cancelo | OneFootball

An insight into the kind of figures likely to be involved in any potential Barcelona deal for João Cancelo has on Thursday surfaced online.

This of course comes amid the understanding that the Blaugrana have earmarked the Portuguese as a potential January signing.

Cancelo is widely expected to depart Saudi outfit Al-Hilal before the month is out.

With as much in mind, a number of European heavyweights have stepped forward to make their interest in his services known.

Amongst them are Italian pair Inter Milan and Juventus, alongside the aforementioned Barcelona.

On the hunt for reinforcements at the back with a view to the 2nd half of the campaign, Cancelo has emerged as a low-cost, high-reward option.

The 31-year-old, who can feature at either right-back or left-back, has prior experience in Catalunya’s capital, after spending the 2023/24 campaign lining out in Blaugrana colours.

And as alluded to above, this week, the kind of outlay likely to be required to sanction a reunion has been revealed.

As per a report from Diario Sport, citing transfer insider Alfredo Pedulla:

‘Cancelo earns 15 million euros net per season at Al-Hilal, so he would have 7.5 million euros left to receive. Of this figure, Inter Milan (in the case of an agreement) would expect Saudi Arabia to assume 50% to be able to close the agreement.’

As much would mean a wage figure in the region of 3.75 million euros for the 2nd half of the term.

This would of course be on top of any loan fee demanded by Al-Hilal.
