Chris Davies' side smashed club and League One records when it came to spending last season - a campaign which also ended in record-breaking fashion with an accumulation of 111 points, and are looking to make an immediate mark on the Championship and end a lengthy hiatus from the Premier League as soon as possible.

The Blues boss has continued to receive ample backing to do so from Knighthead Capital Management, and that has already seen the likes of Demarai Gray return to his boyhood club, a loan move with a future £10m option-to-buy for Tommy Doyle, as well as a £10m permanent move for former Celtic cult hero, Kyogo Furuhashi, among others.

Despite boasting significant quality and depth in forward areas, Davies clearly isn't done there, with the second-tier curtain-raiser against newly-relegated Ipswich Town now just two weeks away.

Football League World exclusively revealed that the next addition to an already formidable-looking attack is set to be Werder Bremen striker, Marvin Ducksch, after links emerged of Blues showing interest in the 31-year-old alongside Greek Super League outfit, PAOK Salonika.

The Dortmund-born man has 12 months left on his current deal with the Bundesliga side, having joined from Hannover 96 in the summer of 2021, earning two caps for the German national team during his time at the Weser Stadium, featuring for 'Die Mannschaft' against Türkiye and Austria in November 2023, as well as scoring 54 goals and providing 40 goals in just 134 appearances for his current employers.

Although Blues are aware of the PSR issues due to the current footballing climate, they do have room to manouvre on the incomings front, having acquired plenty of deals on the free agent and loan market, whilst attempting to balance the books with sales such as Alfie May's £1.2m switch to Huddersfield Town.

Regardless of the transfer sum it may take to sign the 6"2 forward, Birmingham may also have to fork out a hefty salary for his services, as proven by his ESTIMATED current salary.

According to Capology - a site which ESTIMATES player earnings and club payrolls - Ducksh takes home a weekly sum of €43,462, which equates to £37,703.

At present, he is the second-highest earner on the books of Werder Bremen with the aforementioned figure - only former Borussia Dortmund midfielder, Leonardo Bittencourt, takes home a greater sum with a weekly wage of €48,007.

Despite being one of the most ambitious and highest-spending clubs in the division, Blues are said to have the 11th-highest wage bill across the Championship with a figure of £246,000 - however, it must be noted that the wages of new additions haven't yet been taken into account.

Unsurprisingly, though, Ducksch's wage with Bremen isn't a million miles of the earnings of Kyogo during his six-month period in Ligue 1 with Rennes, with the Japanese forward taking home a weekly sum of €55,769 (£48,376.)

It remains to be seen if either of the duo have, or will, take a pay-cut of sorts in order to facilitate their respective moves to St. Andrew's @ Knighthead Park, with both forwards offering Davies plenty of differing attributes which will come in extremely handy during a gruelling 46-game season in which the newly-promoted side are expected to challenge for a play-off place at the bare minimum.
