James Bord's bid to purchase Sheffield Wednesday has been revealed alongside one key issue
The amount of money James Bord bid to buy Sheffield Wednesday has been revealed amid the latest developments surrounding the Owls’ takeover.
Wednesday have been up for sale since late October, when former owner Dejphon Chansiri was forced to place them into administration after being unable to satisfy a £1m HMRC bill.
Despite being hit with an automatic 12-point deduction, which has since been extended to 18, all but confirming their relegation from the Championship, there was no shortage of interest in buying the Owls. In fact, as many as 80 parties came forward showing a desire to take them over.
It recently became apparent that the list had been whittled down to just three parties who could potentially secure a purchase. Mike Ashley, James Bord and a United States-based consortium of John McEvoy and the Storch Family were reportedly the final names in the running.
However, recent developments suggest that the situation has changed once more.

It now appears that the battle to buy Sheffield Wednesday has turned into a two-horse race, with Dunermline owner Bord dropping out at this late stage in proceedings.
According to the Daily Mail, Bord’s group made the highest bid to take over the Owls, but concerns over their funding and satisfying the demands of the EFL’s Owners and Directors Test has ruled them out of the running.
This offer was thought to be north of £30m, the largest submitted to buy the Steel City side, but it has come to no avail.
Bord, an ex-professional poker player, has advised Wednesday’s arch-rivals Sheffield United using his consultancy firm Short Circuit Science, which specialises in data analytics and AI, which they used for their summer recruitment.
Now, it seems like Ashley and the US duo of McEvoy and the Storch's will resume battle to find out who becomes Wednesday’s next owners, with a preferred bidder still yet to be named.

Sheffield Wednesday supporters are currently enjoying an exciting period of time off the pitch, which is distracting them from the tough outings they have been forced to watch from their team this season.
The Hillsborough faithful will be all too aware of what poor ownership can do to a club, so have been more than happy to bide their time in administration.
Although Bord’s offer was impressive, the fact that there were concerns over his funding and ability to pass the EFL’s Owners and Directors Test will have been a major red flag for the Owls’ fans.
Therefore, they will appreciate the fact that the Dunfermline Athletic owner hasn’t been able to progress with his bid, as any risk of being stuck with a less-than-ideal leader should be steered clear of immediately.
