Buoyed by their European crown, PSG have shifted gear in the transfer market. L'Équipe reports that the European champions are now viewed differently, not only because they play a second straight Champions League final against Arsenal on Saturday at 18:00.

Where once Paris had to convince, now they mostly reassure. Ligue 1 is no longer a hurdle, and targets chiefly ask about minutes in a squad widely seen as full.

The exits of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappé led many to foresee a slump in appeal. After leaving Tottenham in summer 2024, Harry Kane judged PSG lacked immediate Champions League guarantees, and talks run by his brother and father were further complicated by salary demands. Inside the club there was unanimity on his profile and a belief he would have delivered intense short-term impact.

Michael Olise showed similar caution, opting for Bayern Munich as he prepared to leave Crystal Palace. Rayan Cherki also turned towards Borussia Dortmund despite an advanced outline with Lyon and Paris, but the move collapsed.

Paris have since stopped pushing when a player has chosen elsewhere. Luis Enrique’s collective has quietened sceptics and repositioned the club, with targets increasingly seeing PSG as a place to develop, not merely a shop window.

That stance will guide the next window. Stability is the watchword, with two or three additions to add value, minimal disruption to balance, and flexibility if frustrated reserves seek exits. Each departure will be replaced in the same position, without stockpiling stars or overpaying.
