An insight into the knock-on effect of Lille sensation Leny Yoro opting against linking up with Real Madrid on the situation of a key figure at Barcelona has this weekend been forthcoming online.

The info comes courtesy of Diario Sport, and points towards Ronald Araújo as the player in question.

Stopper Araújo, for his part, has of course been hotly tipped for a departure form Catalunya’s capital across the summer to date.

With Barcelona still keen to sanction one big-money sale to bring in funds for signings of their own, the Uruguayan international was repeatedly tipped as the player potentially set to be moved on.

This came owing not only to Barca’s interests, but those of the player, too.

Araújo is understood to be open to the prospect of seeking out a new adventure for next season, after five years at the Camp Nou.

As per Sport, however, such hopes on the part of the 25-year-old may well have been brought to an end, by the aforementioned Yoro.

Manchester United are said to have been amongst the leading suitors for Araújo’s signature this summer, eager to add an under-manned central-defensive crop under the watch of Erik ten Hag.

Yoro’s arrival at Old Trafford, though, has all but brought an end to the interest of the Red Devils in Barca’s defensive stalwart, with it concluded that:

‘The arrival of the French centre-back in Manchester definitively closes the door to the signing of Ronald Araujo.’
