Football League World have taken a look at the difference between the cost of a pint at Derby County and Nottingham Forest
For many, the occasion surrounding a football match is what makes the sacred activity so popular the world over.
Hospitality falls into that category, with clubs constantly innovating their current matchday experiences to appeal to as many different demographics as possible.
This can count for a lot, with some fans content with a poor result as long as they’ve enjoyed the social gathering that is going to the football.
A popular part of the occasion is enjoying a pint of alcohol to relax and unwind, which makes the cost-effectiveness of such an item crucial for supporters.
Bitter rivals Derby County and Nottingham Forest may compete in different divisions but will both look to continue their respective upward trajectory next term.
The Rams are keen to build on John Eustace’s successful start at Pride Park, whilst Forest embark on their first campaign in European football for 30 years.
But how do their pint prices compare? Football League World has taken a look to find out.
Derby currently set a fairly steep price for a pint when compared to the rest of the second-tier, but sometimes introduce deals to entice supporters.
The Rams have a deal with Molson Coors Beverage Company, which sees Carling, Madri, Carling Black Fruits, and Sharps’ Atlantic Pale Ale, Doom Bar and Cold River Cider on sale at all public bars during every Derby home game at Pride Park Stadium.
On average, one pint will set fans back £5.
Premium Czech lager Staropramen is also available in hospitality boxes and loungers across the ground.
At the Fans Park, supporters can arrive early and build up the atmosphere before kick-off, with the lure of discounted alcohol there.
The Rams charge just £3.50 in the fan zone, which is a significant discount on the usual cost.
As can be expected, Premier League outfit Forest charge a slightly higher amount than their rivals.
Nuno Espírito Santo’s side offers Madrí, Atlantic, Carling, Aspall Cyder and Doom Bar on a matchday.
A pint can be acquired for £5.20, with a fan zone behind the Brian Clough stand also providing an area to purchase alcohol outside the stadium.
As can be expected, the price of a pint at the football is slightly more expensive than the average for the area.
In Nottingham, the standard cost of a drink is £4.59, slightly less than at the City Ground.
