Manchester United will end the year with a home game against Newcastle United in the Premier League.
The Red Devils are still finding their feet under new manager Ruben Amorim, with a mix of results since he took over as the permanent replacement for Erik ten Hag.
It’ll be important to end the year on a high in order to build a bit more optimism that 2025 can be better than 2024 for Man Utd, but Newcastle won’t be easy opponents by any stretch of the imagination.
Read on for our look ahead to next week’s United-Newcastle game…
We know by now that Amorim likes to line up in 3-4-3 formation, but he’ll still have a few different options in terms of the personnel involved.
Harry Maguire has worked his way back into the United first-team due to this tactical change, but there’s also Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro to think about, while Noussair Mazraoui has also looked decent in a back three.
Meanwhile, one imagines Marcus Rashford could be out of the squad again for this game after not even being named on the bench against Manchester City, Tottenham and Bournemouth.
Man United predicted line up: Onana; De Ligt, Maguire, Yoro; Dalot, Malacia, Mainoo, Ugarte; Fernandes, Diallo, Hojlund.
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe probably has a decent idea of his best XI by now, so he’ll surely look to utilise it for a big game like this.
With Alexander Isak in such fine form, he’s sure to lead the line for the Magpies and it will be interesting to watch if the likes of Bruno Guimaraes and Anthony Gordon can supply him as usual.
Newcastle predicted line up: Pope; Livramento, Hall, Burn, Schar; Guimaraes, Tonali, Joelinton; Gordon, Murphy, Isak
You can click here to buy Manchester United tickets through the club’s official website, though it surely won’t be easy to get your hands on one for this big game during the festive season.
There’s also membership costs to think about, so you might find it’s easier and cheaper to check out livefootballtickets.com as a reliable alternative.
There’s also a 150% money back guarantee if you’re not happy with your purchase for any reason.

Similarly, though, the official channels aren’t actually always the most convenient, and can be the most costly, so make sure to check out livefootballtickets.com to give yourself the best chance of getting to Old Trafford next week.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Man United have the much better record in this fixture down the years, having won 92 times, and losing only 46. The other 41 games between them have been draws.
In more recent times, MUFC beat Newcastle 2-0 in the Carabao Cup final in 2023, but then lost three in a row to Howe’s side, before bouncing back with a 3-2 victory in their Premier League meeting back in May.
These games are usually pretty entertaining and unpredictable, though, so history might not tell us that much about the result this time. Let us know your predictions in the comments!
