How to watch Gotham FC and Bay FC, time, more as Bats try to end winless streak | OneFootball

After a long international break, NJ/NY Gotham FC will return to NWSL action this weekend when the Bats face Bay FC.  The good news is that the NJ/NY side is unbeaten against the California team since they joined the league in 2024.  The last game ended in a draw, but hopefully this meeting will result in a win and three points.  The NJ/NY team desperately needs this.

Right now, Gotham FC has a 1-2-2 record, last winning during the season opener against Boston Legacy FC.  Similar to New York City FC, whose winless streak continued on Wednesday, the Bats have not won in four matches.  To make matters worse, the ladies have only scored twice this season.  They finally scored again in the last game against the Kansas City Current, but that match ended in a loss.

The one positive is that the defense has been impressive in three of the five fixtures played so far.  Ann-Katrin Berger continues to be one of the best goalkeepers in the NWSL.  And who can forget about the abundance of talent in the backline, with players like Tierna Davidson, Lilly Reale, and Emily Sonnett?  Of course, once Bruninha and Mandy Freeman are both back, then the defense and the ability to rotate will make the backline that much more fearsome.

Meanwhile, the focus in the upcoming game has to be on the scoring.  Bay FC is having a slightly better start with two wins and two losses.  They have six goals compared to the Bats’ two, and they have already won on the road.  Gotham FC has the roster to grab a win; the question is whether they will execute and score multiple goals.

Final notes

During the week, Jaedyn Shaw threw out the first pitch at Citi Field for a Mets game.  The baseball team ended their losing streak, finally winning again.  Perhaps the magic from Shaw attending the game will transfer over to Sports Illustrated Stadium and lead Gotham FC to a win and an end to the winless streak.
