Cole Palmer is in a key moment in his career. He’s barely played this season as he’s troubled by a persistent groin injury, and with the World Cup next summer closing in he faces a race to prove his form and fitness once he returns.
England fans all over are speculating about how they could get Palmer into their team, and whether Thomas Tuchel will do that.

“My midfield three for the World Cup, at the moment, would be [Declan] Rice, Bellingham, [Morgan] Rogers… and then Palmer playing the left side when he hopefully comes back and he’s fresh and he’s really looking good to come and play the left side of the pitch and come in as a No.10 as well,” Alan Pardew had said on his TalkSport show before.
But right now, it’s not looking nearly as likely. Eliot Anderson’s superb form has guaranteed him a spot in the middle, and Declan Rice is nailed on too. Ahead of them, Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka are untouchable too.
The final spots will see Palmer competing with players like Jude Bellingham, Anthony Gordon and Morgan Rogers for minutes. And the Chelsea man will have to make his case using club football, as there are no more England games until March.

Getting Palmer fit is now no longer just about making sure he can help Chelsea this season – it’s also a real race to the World Cup and to potentially define this next phase of his career.
Nicolas Jackson’s future is back in the frame after the striker’s latest lack of start for Bayern. There’s been talk of a January recall, but neither party is keen on that according to a top insider.
