Wolfsburg are expected to finalise the transfer of Norwich City forward Josh Sargent imminently, and it’s a move in which Werder Bremen can benefit from because of a re-sale clause.
Bild report that Werder Bremen will receive around €900,000 from Sargent’s sale to Wolfsburg. VfL have offered Norwich City €20m to sign the USMNT international, who has been offered a four-year contract with the Bundesliga club. After joining Norwich City from Werder Bremen for €11m, the Championship club will earn €9m profit on the striker, with Bremen retaining a 10 percent resale.
Sargent won’t be the only player that Bremen benefit from either. Because Anton Stach played for SVW as a youth player between 2011 and 2014, Werder received €225,000 in compensation meaning that the Bundesliga side will earn €1.125m in revenue from Stach and Sargent’s transfers.
Dawid Kownacki is the only player to leave for a fee this summer, with Bremen earning €500,000 from a season-long loan spell, although further departures are expected.
