Josh Koroma is seemingly a wanted man this window

Huddersfield Town are poised to face a battle in retaining the services of Josh Koroma, who has attracted interest from both Championship and fellow League One sides.

That's according to a recent report from Darren Witcoop, who has claimed via his X account that the versatile forward has a host of admirers in what's hardly going to represent good news as far as the Terriers are concerned.

Huddersfield are in the midst of a hotly-contested promotion race. They're currently seven points behind second-placed Wycombe Wanderers, though that margin will decrease to four points if the Terriers - who are in fourth position and six points clear in the play-offs - win their game in hand.

They will intend on gaining promotion back to the Championship at the first time of asking, so losing any key assets in January could prove a major disruption to the ambitions of Michael Duff's side.

Championship, League One transfer interest in Huddersfield Town's Josh Koroma

Witcoop's update does not specifically disclose any of the clubs who have registered an interest, though it does state that Huddersfield could "face a fight" to keep Koroma in West Yorkshire beyond the current window as he has "admirers" from the Championship and in League One.

It would be interesting to see where Koroma's interest in League One is coming from, given that only three clubs are above Huddersfield in the table and one would have to wonder if surprise package Wycombe would have the financial means to pull off such a deal, for example.

It's worth noting that Koroma is set to see his contract expire in the summer, having penned a new deal in 2023.

That lessens his value in any circumstance, but the Terriers surely would not want to lose the 26-year-old - who is now at a peak age - for nothing and may have a difficult decision to make if fresh terms cannot be struck.

The ex-Leyton Orient and Portsmouth winger has been in impressive form for the promotion hopefuls this season.

At the time of writing, just Ben Wiles and West Ham United loanee Callum Marshall (6) have outscored Koroma's five league goals for Huddersfield in the 2024/25 campaign.

He's added another two assists from 19 league appearances, many of which have come from the wide-left position, with Duff opting to play two up top.

The three-cap Sierra Leone international is one goal off matching his 2023/24 Championship tally from far less games, although his experience at second-tier level is bound to make him an attractive proposition for clubs lower down the table.
