Hugo Ekitike will miss Liverpool’s trip to Fulham on Sunday, with Arne Slot hopeful the forward could return for Arsenal on Thursday.

According to L'Équipe, the Frenchman was left out of the squad for the 16:15 kick-off due to a minor hamstring problem.

Slot said he had been forced to use Ekitike more than initially planned following Alexander Isak’s injury.

For a player of his age, who is not yet fully accustomed to the Premier League, that workload was a little too much, the manager admitted.

He is aiming to have Ekitike available for the trip to the Emirates to face leaders Arsenal on Thursday, although that remains uncertain.
