Hugo González is catching the eye in Celta de Vigo’s pre-season, adding a technically brilliant goal after a cut inside and an outside-of-the-boot finish into the top corner.

According to Superdeporte, the ex-Valencia winger has been on target repeatedly this summer, and the club’s Twitter account noted he cannot stop scoring.

He left Valencia for Cartagena in Segunda División, but circumstances and the team’s style worked against him, so he started only six times. Midway through 24/25 he moved to Celta Fortuna.

In that half-season he delivered five goals and three assists, at a club that backs its B team and academy.

He then kicked on last term with 14 goals and eight assists in the regular season, a top-flight debut with the first team, plus four goals and one assist in the promotion play-off. In total, 18 goals and nine assists, 27 direct goal involvements, and Celta Fortuna secured promotion to Segunda División.

Head coach Claudio Giráldez has handed him a prominent pre-season role, and he is responding with industry and goals, including on Wednesday against Académico de Viseu.
