The Tigers will hope to shock their former boss Liam Rosenior on Friday night

The FA Cup returns this coming weekend, and one of the 'ties of the round' comes on Friday night, as Championship promotion hopefuls, Hull City, welcome Chelsea to the MKM Stadium.

With the oldest cup competition in world football known for setting up plenty of storylines down the years, this particular fixture fell straight into said category, as Liam Rosenior returns to East Yorkshire as head coach of the Club World Cup champions, less than two years after he was controversially dismissed by Acun Ilicali after the Tigers failed to reach the second tier play-offs back in 2023/24.

It is also Hull's first fourth-round tie in the competition for six years, which ironically also came against the West London giants in January 2020, when the Blues edged past their EFL opponents 2-1 in front of a sell-out crowd.

The Tigers progressed into the fourth round after defeating fellow Championship side, Blackburn Rovers, on penalties after a drab encounter in both normal and extra-time on January 11th, whilst Rosenior's reign at Stamford Bridge began with a comfortable passage into the upcoming round with a 5-1 success over Charlton Athletic at The Valley less than 24 hours beforehand.

For Sergej Jakirovic, the upcoming clash against Chelsea provides his side with a distraction from their league commitments, which have slightly faltered in their past two home games against Watford and Bristol City, whilst the Blues are on the hunt for UEFA Champions League football once more.

It is set up to be an exciting night on the banks of the Humber, and Football League World has rounded up all the important pre-game information in terms of TV scheduling and more.

The encounter between the Tigers and their Premier League opponents has been given a 7:45PM kick-off slot on Friday, February 13th, after it was one of several fourth round ties picked for television screening.

Hull and Chelsea's clash kicks off at exactly the same time as Wrexham's meeting with Ipswich Town in North Wales, and is available for viewing on two UK-based channels.

The Tigers will be at the forefront of the nation's Friday night viewing options, with the fixture chosen for broadcast on BBC One, with coverage beginning at approximately 7:30PM.

Leading the coverage for the BBC is Mark Chapman, who will be joined alongside former Manchester City and England defender, Micah Richards, as well as Curtis Davies.

Davies, of course, is a modern-day legend at the MKM Stadium, having been a part of Hull's only FA Cup final-featuring side, scoring three times in their famous 2013/14 run to the final against Arsenal, where he scored City's second, before the Gunners came from behind to win 3-2 in extra-time.

The match will also be screened on TNT Sports through the Discovery plus streaming service, which requires a subscription worth up to £30.99 per month.

The Tigers have also confirmed that, as a result of FA Cup broadcasting regulations, only audio commentary will be provided as part of their in-house 'Tigers Plus' service, which also requires a minimum subscription of £4.50.

Hull City vs Chelsea is a sell-out at the MKM Stadium

Chelsea are the first top-flight opponents Hull have faced in a competitive fixture since their extra-time third round 3-2 defeat against Everton in January 2022, which was also screened to the nation.

With Rosenior's return to the MKM generating plenty of hype and attention, as well as City's overall positive first campaign under Jakirovic, it is no surprise that the sold-out signs went up on Monday, February 9th, after the final single seats available to purchase were snapped up by supporters.

The London club will also be supported by 3,902 supporters after the two clubs agreed to the regulations set out by the FA, which sees the visiting club take as much as 15 percent of the stadium's allocation when it comes to tickets.

As such, Chelsea's supporters will take up the entirety of the North Stand, to the left of the main broadcast camera position.
