Manchester United are preparing for a pivotal transfer window to grant Ruben Amorim the players he needs.
In doing so, the Red Devils have found themselves linked with countless targets in the build-up to the summer – most recently Matheus Cunha, who’s expected to leave Wolverhampton Wanderers as soon as the transfer period gets underway.
Despite putting pen to paper on a four-year contract extension only two months ago, the Molineux talisman is seeking a new venture following a truly stellar season in the Premier League, where he’s notched 14 goals and a further four assists in 28 appearances.
To say Cunha has been influential on Wolves retaining their top-flight status for another year is an understatement, so it’s no surprise the club inserted a hefty £62.5 million release clause into his terms when he committed his – albeit short-term – future to the Midlands outfit.

Sales will eventually have to be sanctioned in order for United to oversee such a drastic overhaul. Reports have suggested they’d even consider offloading Rasmus Hojlund prematurely for a cut-price fee of £30m – two years after £64m was shelled out on the then-20-year-old.
Cunha, who’s previously represented Atletico Madrid and RB Leipzig, is believed to be giving priority to United, with Arsenal and Aston Villa also among his English admirers.
Transfer expert David Ornstein was pressed on the Reds’ pursuit of Cunha when chatting with Sky Sports News this morning. He told the outlet: “He has Premier League experience. He plays the sort of football that United have been missing this season, crucially, he hits the back of the net. He’s creative, he plays in the final third of the pitch, where United have been struggling.
“They’ll have to work out where he fits in due to the presence of someone like Bruno Fernandes. But I do think there’ll be quite a lot of change at United this summer. They’ll be looking to bring in a striker, too, as an equal priority to this No.10.”
