RC Strasbourg Alsace took the game to Paris Saint-Germain, committing to pressing Les Parisiens and adopting a positive mindset throughout. Whilst RCSA ultimately came out second best at the Parc des Princes on Saturday night, losing 4-2, Liam Rosenior expressed his pride in the performance.

“PSG are one of the best teams in Europe with some outstanding young players. I think they’re building something very special here. I am very proud of my players for being brave enough to play in a style that I don’t think anyone has tried. I think if you want to beat teams that are of the quality of PSG, you have to take risks. You have to be prepared to lose big to win big,” began the Englishman in a press conference, attended by Get French Football News.

He added, “PSG cause every team problems; they are outstanding, but I don’t know many teams that come to Paris and get eight shots on target. You have to take risks if you want to be in the game and you want to develop your philosophy, you have to accept that you’re maybe going to concede, concede chances.”

“But I would rather come here and have a go and watch my players run and give everything for the shirt than sit back and wait. In England, we say ‘A slow death’. I don’t believe in slow deaths. By sitting back, you can concede four goals against a team that is good, by playing in a block, playing low, and giving up 80% of the ball. I was proud of the mentality of the team. The result in the short term is not as important as what we are building in the long term.”
