Frank Leboeuf has urged Chelsea to reconsider signing Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho this summer.

The Blues have been busy in the transfer window and have made four signings so far in Jorrel Hato, Liam Delap, Jamie Gittens and Joao Pedro.

Chelsea aren’t done there and are currently in negotiations for RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons, whilst they are also weighing up whether to sign a replacement for Levi Colwill.

Leboeuf urges Chelsea to reconsider Garnacho move

The Blues have revamped their attack and it’s been reported they want as many as eight or nine attacking options to rotate between next season.

If Simons arrives he’s unlikely to be the final attacker through the door, with Chelsea also pursuing a move for Garnacho.

Garnacho has reportedly agreed personal terms with Chelsea, but United are said to want £50m for the 21-year-old.

Chelsea are said to not want to pay more than £30m, with former Blue Pat Nevin not convinced Garnacho is a good fit, and now Leboeuf has shared his thoughts.

“No I don’t understand it (Chelsea’s interest in Garnacho), of course not,” he told ESPN.

“And on top of it, I saw Gittens coming in for the last 15 minutes and he really impressed me. Every time he got the ball, he made a difference. He was very impressive.

“Garnacho will play in the same position on the left side – I never saw Garnacho do that even when he was at the top of his game.

“He’s a great player but you are going to pay between 50 or 60 million for a guy in a position where you already have the players that you need. I don’t see Garnacho adding something better than what they already have.”

Leboeuf worried about atmosphere in the dressing room

There’s been concerns raised about Garnacho’s attitude, but Chelsea have carried out background checks and are reportedly happy with their findings.

Leboeuf has warned too many players could cause issues in the dressing room and added:

“To have it too crowded can also create problems. The dressing room is going to be young and the atmosphere can change – one person can destroy it.

“I’m not saying that would be Garnacho, it could be any player if they don’t play and become moody, which creates problems in the dressing room.”
