Jordan have finalised Jamal Sellami’s squad, with 20-year-old Al-Hussein defender Mohammad Taha called up after forward Ibrahim Sabra withdrew with a left ankle ligament rupture sustained in training last week.
According to L'Équipe, the Moroccan coach has added Taha to his 26-player list for the World Cup.
Taha, who will wear number 18, was preferred to Al-Hussein team-mate Yousef Qashi due to his versatility, offering extra options down the left.
Jordan were Arab Cup runners-up last winter, losing 3-2 after extra time to Morocco. They then lost their last two warm-ups, 1-4 to Switzerland on 31 May and 0-2 to Colombia in San Diego overnight Sunday to Monday.
A member of the delegation suggested some players might unconsciously be preserving themselves before a first historic World Cup, with injuries already mounting. The squad will reach their base in Portland on Thursday.
Drawn in Group J with Argentina, Algeria and Austria, Jordan open against Austria on Wednesday 17 June at six am in Santa Clara.
