Former Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti delivered an update on his health after being released from the hospital.
Speaking to Sports Daily via FCInterNews, also hailed Inter’s decision to appoint Cristian Chivu as their new head coach.
Massimo Moratti, who celebrated his 80th birthday in May, has overcome massive health issues.
Indeed, he was admitted to the hospital due to pneumonia in August.
Moratti’s long-standing smoking habit may have increased his susceptibility to respiratory illnesses.
However, he has reassured that he is now feeling much better after a difficult period.
Meanwhile, he has also offered his verdict on Chivu’s appointment.
Inter hired the 45-year-old in June after failing to sign Cesc Fabregas as Simone Inzaghi’s replacement.
Despite lacking experience in senior management, the Romanian coach has enjoyed an impressive start to life at San Siro.
For context, the Nerazzurri head into the new calendar year as the Serie A leaders.
Furthermore, they’re on the verge of securing a berth in the Champions League last-16.

Asked about his current state, Moratti replied: “Better, definitely much better.
“There were some very complicated days, but I can also tell you that while I was in hospital, I hardly realised what had happened.
“When they removed the breathing tube, I began to understand, and then everything was explained to me.
“I believe I’m a very lucky person who ended up in the right hands.”
Then, he commented on Chivu’s arrival.
“Personally, I never had any doubts,” Moratti was adamant.
“Chivu may have been a gamble, but so far it’s been an absolutely spot-on one. And let me say one more thing.
“I had Cristian as a player. On the pitch, he was excellent and immensely useful to the coach.
“But he always had great human qualities: I remember him going to Roma camps around the Milan area to give Italian lessons to the kids.
“It was a ‘mission’ he truly believed in, and he was well liked by those youngsters who needed a figure like that.
“Chivu wasn’t just a great footballer and now a good coach.
“For me, he’s a man of enormous substance, with extraordinary culture, capable of combining intelligence and uncommon sensitivity.
