Colón are in talks to keep Ignacio Lago, as Peñarol have submitted a formal offer for the player.

Talks to extend a deal that runs until December 2026 are ongoing, and an earlier proposal was turned down a few weeks ago, according to Radiogol.com.

Club executives met the player’s camp on 29 January, with both sides leaving encouraged and willing to refine terms.

Peñarol’s bid, delivered via the player’s representative, is for a season-long loan with a fee and an option to buy.

Colón’s official stance is that they do not intend to negotiate Lago’s departure. He is seen as a key figure for the team, and the club are prioritising on-pitch needs over a sale.
