Igor Tudor responds to now deleted social media post by Premier League mocking Vicario | OneFootball

Igor Tudor has criticised the Premier League for a video they posted on social media at the weekend, which seemed to mock Tottenham goalkeeper Vicario.

The video showed Vicario taking a free-kick which he booted up the pitch, and which ended up going out for an opposition goal kick. The caption from the Premier League was “Just how the play was drawn up.”

They deleted the video after backlash, and Spurs interim manager Tudor has had his say.

“It was not nice,” he said. “Vicario is a fantastic guy, fantastic player, but this thing is a club issue. I spoke with him. He’s okay, it’s part of the job. In 2026 with social media, sometimes we give too much importance to information.

“Sometimes for sure it’s not good, but we are living in an era of information. Every day there’s hundreds of bits of new information bombarding these players, so they need to be strong, they need to accept it.

“For sure when I was a player I lived in a better world from that point of view. Because you could have your life as a normal life. Now there are two lives for players, one here and one in this machine (social media), which is sometimes not easy to manage for the young people.

“They need to be very informed, very aware, pay attention to what happens there, and try to stay as much as possible in the real world.

“But I’m sure they’re (Premier League) aware of the mistake they made and they will not do in the future for sure.”
