West Ham are in talks to try and sign Harvey Elliot from Liverpool this summer.
Following the capture of Malick Diouf from Sparta Prague earlier in the week, the club are now firmly switching the attention towards landing the England U21 midfielder Elliot, who was a standout star in the European Championships last month.
Although deemed an ambitious move for the club, there is understood to be a level of confidence that a deal could be made, with the player eager to be a key player at a Premier League club, having found last season ‘difficult’ with his lack of game time.
The higher levels of confidence in securing the deal have also been boosted by Liverpool’s pursuit of Alexander Isak from Newcastle, with the Merseyside club looking at a £120m price tag to land the player.
We understand that Liverpool will need to balance the books to accommodate the purchase of Isak, so a £35-40m sale of Elliot is something they are open to pushing forward.
At present, West Ham are talking to Liverpool with the view of submitting a formal bid, however it is not yet known how the player feels about a move to east London.
The Surrey born player though is unlikely to be phased by a move back down south, so it is up to Graham Potter also to convince him that a move to West Ham is the perfect next step in his career.
