‘Incredible’ – Man City star Reijnders on playing with Foden and Haaland | OneFootball

Tijjani Reijnders says he is loving playing with attacking duo Erling Haaland and Phil Foden.

After a shaky start to the season, City now look like they are building some form, having beaten Manchester United at the weekend and beginning their Champions League campaign with victory over Napoli.

Phil Foden has looked back to his best in the past week, providing goals and assists, and Reijnders says having the Englishman back to his best is huge for the team.

“He’s very important. Also the assist he gave today (against Napoli), the chances he created.

“He’s an important player and a great player as well.”

There was also another goalscoring record for Erling Haaland against Napoli. The Norwegian became the fastest player to score 50 Champions League goals – achieving the feat in just 49 matches.

“It says enough the statistics, what he shows,” the Dutchman said. “Incredible striker and he helps us a lot of times, especially in the last few games.”

The Dutchman moved to the Etihad this summer and has immediately established himself in the starting lin-eup. “He’s an amazing coach,” Reijnders said of Guardiola. “It’s a pleasure to train and play under him and I want to learn everything because what he did in football is amazing and it’s a pleasure to play for him.”

The 27-year-old continued: “This week is very important for us. First the match against Man United and now the first game in the Champions League where we both won.

“Now we have to be ready for Sunday against Arsenal and doing a good job.

“We will be ready, we’re coming there with confidence. We have to show our best of ourselves and have a good game.”

Fellow summer signing Gianluigi Donnarumma has also had a positive start to life at the Etihad. After two clean sheets in his first two games, Reijnders said: “He’s a great goalkeeper.

“The saves he does for us, it’s amazing and helps us a lot, gives confidence to the team and it’s a pleasure that we have him.”
