Manchester United loaned-out youngster Harry Amass might not linger at Sheffield Wednesday beyond January.
The London native is a Waford academy product who joined Man Utd’s youth ranks in 2023. Last season, Amass received high praise after displaying ‘incredible’ strength while representing the club’s U21 side, and his exploits earned him a place in Ruben Amorim’s first team in the final months of the campaign.
However, the Portuguese manager realised that the 18-year-old would struggle to earn playing time this season, especially in the absence of European football, and also following the shocking elimination from the Carabao Cup in Grimsby back in August.
Therefore, Man Utd decided to send Amass on loan to the struggling Wednesday.
The Premier League giants were even willing to cover his full salary, just to push the deal through on deadline day, as the Championship side has been facing a financial calamity, and has recently filed for administration.

The teenager has been omnipresent in the starting lineup ever since, making 10 appearances in the Championship, but has yet to directly contribute to a goal.
But according to the Manchester Evening News, the young left-back won’t necessarily finish the campaign in Sheffield, as his temporary contract with the club will expire on January 5.
This is certainly a rare case, as player contracts almost always expire at the end of the season.
But while a return to Carrington remains unlikely due to the aforementioned circumstances, Man Utd have the opportunity to find Amass a healthier environment. After all, Wednesday may have already resigned to relegation.
The Owls currently sit at the very bottom of the Championship Table. While they have collected eight points from 14 fixtures thanks to a win and five draws, their current tally reads -4, as they were slapped with a 12-point deduction.
Wednesday will most probably request the extension of Amass’ loan until the end of the season, but it remains to be seen if United will have other plans in mind.
