Colwill hasn’t played this season after suffering an ACL injury before the start of the campaign, and Chelsea have really missed him.
However, the England international is back in training and it’s hoped he could feature before the end of the campaign.
Colwill has established himself as a key part of the Chelsea side, and played an important role in helping the Blues secure Champions League football and the Conference League and Club World Cup trophies.
The 23-year-old will likely miss the World Cup, and focus will be on making sure he’s fully fit for the start of next season.
Colwill came through the ranks at Chelsea, and is seen as a key part of the club’s project, with his current deal running until 2029, with the club option of a further year.
Reece James has already signed a new six year deal, whilst negotiations had taken place with Enzo Fernandez, but an agreement was unable to be reached.
Jacobs has reported in his Give Me Sport column that Chelsea are working on other contract extensions, and have begun initial talks with Colwill.
Colwill has made 75 appearances for the Blues to date, and will likely play a key role in the heart of the defence next season.
