A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid has set his sights on a return to competitive action in next month’s meeting with Barcelona.
That’s according to journalist Rubén Martín, who points towards Dani Carvajal as the player in question.
Defender Carvajal was for his part condemned to an incoming spell on the sidelines earlier today.
The 33-year-old featured from the off on Saturday night, as Real Madrid locked horns with city rivals Atlético in the season’s first Madrid Derby.
En route to an alarming 5-2 defeat, however, Carvajal was forced into a premature departure from proceedings during the 2nd-half.
The Spanish international, in turn, was put through a round of medical tests earlier today.
And as much revealed a calf injury.
The widespread understanding, in turn, was that Carvajal is facing up to a minimum of four weeks on the sidelines.
Any such absence would all but rule the right-back out of next month’s first Clásico of the term.
As alluded to above, however, if ensuing word stemming from the media on Sunday evening is anything to go by, then such an absence is not yet set in stone.
As per a report from the aforementioned Rubén Martín of Diario AS:
‘The idea, both from the club and Carvajal himself, is to be ready for the Clásico. Work is already underway on recovering from that grade 2 soleus injury. The captain wants to be at the Bernabéu on October 26, facing Barcelona.’
