The 26-year-old wasn’t part of United’s squad against the Hammers. Ayden Heaven replaced him, but endured a nervy outing and was booked for a rash sliding tackle.

De Ligt’s injury is seen as minor, and he could be back in training as soon as this week.

The Netherlands international has been a key member of Amorim’s first team this season, featuring in 13 Premier League matches.

He has averaged an impressive 5.2 clearances, 1.5 tackles, 1.2 interceptions and 3.1 ball recoveries per game in the English top-flight.

De Ligt is a top defender who is highly rated for his physicality, leadership and aggression.

He is strong in the tackle, excellent at winning duels and offers a commanding presence in the air.

De Ligt has been a regular starter since joining United from Bayern Munich in 2024.

He has made 56 appearances across all competitions for the Red Devils, with three goals to his name.
