Spain have settled at Chattanooga’s Baylor School as their World Cup base, a secluded set-up with top-class facilities. According to Superdeporte, the campus opened its doors on a rest day so media could see how La Roja are preparing.

Sporting director Aitor Karanka acted as host, guiding reporters through a vast press room and the modern training hub.

Beyond the doors sits a pristine pitch, although the intense Tennessee heat could be the main issue. Spain play their first two matches in Atlanta at 12.00, so acclimatisation is a priority.

Tennis courts and a sizeable gym sit alongside, packed with equipment and walls carrying motivational messages about teamwork and sacrifice.

An image shows the players celebrating the Euros with María Caamaño, the 13-year-old fan who died of cancer, a reminder close to the squad.

Outside the gym there is a small pool for recovery and, next to it, a golf course where several players unwind with a few shots. A school basketball court and an Olympic pool complete a base where Spain are living comfortably.
