Inter boss Simone Inzaghi was over the moon in the post-match press conference after his side defeated Barcelona in extra time to reach the Champions League final.
Speaking to the press via FcInter1908, Simone Inzaghi commented on how mainstream media termed Inter as the underdogs in this tie following their fall in the Scudetto race. He said: “Tonight we were extraordinary, it was an extremely difficult match, against a world-class opponent against two great teams. Not many people predicted us, many of us listened to them, some more than others. Tonight we are proud, our fans deserve the final lap and the applause.”
Inter booked their place in the Champions League final set to be staged in Munich this year after playing out a thrilling two-legged encounter versus Barcelona as they earned victory with a 7-6 scoreline on aggregate.
Inzaghi came up with a tactical masterclass for the Nerazzurri during the matches as he was able to dampen the threats from Raphinha and Lamie Yamal, two of Barca’s main attackers this season.
Inter have now made two Champions League finals in three years with the Serie A title race still up in the air this campaign.
